Nautical Nectar. Snickers Coffee. Funky Monkey. These fun names aren’t adult beverages, but a sample of the delicious fragrances from Hooked Candle Company. A joint venture between two friends, Hooked is helmed by Casey Cash for day-to-day operations. Just earlier this year Cash took the plunge and began running this family owned and oriented biz full time.
So why soy candles? Back in 2011, Casey noticed that “big brand name” candles throughout his home were leaving a trail of black film on the walls while being burned. He realized he and his loved ones had been breathing in the soot in large amounts for years. That was his “aha” moment. With the vision to create a safe product people will benefit from Casey trial and error-ed his way to a soy-based science.
Hooked currently participates in quite a few Pinellas markets and shared a lot of their feels about the scene with us. Cash has “done MANY of the markets in our area and now focuses on the ones that provide the most positivity and have a strong community feel”. Community is what makes these happenings extra special for them. “Local pop-up markets are one of the few ways in our society you can get a true sense of local economy. When one group of people set up shop, to let another group of people come purchase their goods they’ve made – it’s nothing short of awesome”.
Make sure to check out their website 24/7 and even purchase online. You can sample their free smells if you catch them set up at a market near you. Their lineup this week is jam-packed: Tarpon Springs First Friday, Pass-a-Grille Saturday, and Safety Harbor Market on Main on Sunday! Hooked Candles can also be purchased at over a dozen retail shops across Tampa Bay. Waterside Furnishings, Dody Beach Boutique and The Bungaleaux on Central are just a few notables.
