market mafia

Happy Saturday Market Mafia! As warmer weather returns to the Sunshine State, it’s time to get outside and enjoy it! There’s lots going on around the region, but today we’re highlighting Dunedin Downtown Market. Check out my below recommendations of places to visit before and after you #HitTheMarket in picturesque, fun-loving Dunedin.

1. 9th BAR Coffee Co.

Run by Dunedin natives, this coffee bar is up and coming, and pure morning bliss. According to their website, they “only serve the best available seasonally harvested, fresh roasted coffees from around the world”. They also make all their syrups in house with organic ingredients! 9th BAR has food too, should you early risers need a pre-market snack with your caffeine fix.

2. Dunedin Downtown Market

Happening every Friday and Saturday (9A-2P), November thru May, you can catch over 60 vendors set up in Pioneer Park right off Main Street. This market is run by our pals over at Tampa Bay Markets and is a perfect blend of handmade goods and gourmet grub. Family friendly and pet friendly, this is one your whole market mafia will enjoy! Once you’ve finished shopping the market, venture into some of the boutiques that line Main Street to see more local flair.

3. Marker 8

This find is the definition of off-the-beaten-path. The tiki bar is located on the first level of the Beso del Sol resort along scenic Alternate 19. Sit waterside under a raffia umbrella or come in your swimsuit and choose a pool lounge chair (YES, that’s right! There’s a public pool for customers to use!) to catch some rays. Order from their badass drink menu whatever you’d like to sip on, and take part in a cornhole game or two. This is Florida winter living at it’s finest! In addition to adult libations, their food is phenomenal. The waffle fries are my must-have each visit. Did I mention if you’re around the bar for sunset, free shots on the house?

4. Cueni Brewing Co.

Recently I spent an afternoon here sipping and sunning, and throughly enjoyed the joint. One of the newer craft breweries to Dunedin and the Tampa Bay Ale Trail, Cueni is already scoring high ratings with the locals. Their outdoor patio backs up to the Pinellas Trail if you’re feeling outdoorsy, or they have indoor brewery seating as well. Taps change often so make sure to visit frequently; the Orange Trail Cream Ale was absolutely delicious.

5. Kafe Racer

Don’t own your own bike, but want to feel the wind in your hair? Stop in to this convenient rental shop, formerly known as Dunedin Cyclery, just a hop, skip and jump away from the Pinellas Trail.

6. Strachan’s Ice Cream

End your day in Dunedin on a sweet note at Strachan’s. If you like ice cream…this is a MUST. No excuses. Strachan’s has been voted Best of the Bay multiple years! Upon entering, you’re hit with an aroma that can only be descried as waffle cone heaven. Scoops, shakes or sundaes – they have it all and it’s all delicious. If ice cream isn’t your ideal dessert, try the carrot cake (also an award winner in Tampa Bay!).

Happy 2K18 ya’ll! Make sure to tag Market Mafia on Instagram with your market adventures! #HitTheMarket
